Welcome to “Inside the House”, the Women's Housing Coalition’s blog which chronicles the lives of five women in our program; Laura, Juanita, Malaya, Heather, and Billie.
Though not their real names, these ladies will post every day in some combination (except weekends) until December 31, 2010. You will experience their joy and sadness, successes and failures, happiness and frustration, as they work toward becoming self-sufficient individuals.
As you follow their lives this year, we hope you will gain some insight into the courage and strength that all of our residents must put forth each day to reclaim their lives.
well today has been kind of crazy, because i am so busy trying to plan for the next minute.
I’ve been working on an exciting project. I’ve been helping a singer-songwriter friend Ed Rambeau to edit his many recorded songs onto THE BEST OF RAMBEAU CD. I hope to send it to a major record producer. My dream is to have him do a PBS special for one of their fundraisers.
Great week! Fed 15 people at the House on Wednesday. We had smoked turkey, parley potatoes, and green beans. It was a nice pre-Easter dinner for the residents. I had a good time cooking and serving the food. Everyone is looking forward to the pancake dinner in July.

I have been felling pretty good this week. No depression. I have been spending my time with the receptionist at the front desk and I have been knitting all day. Since the knitting class has class ended, I have made 3 shawls and 2 scarves.
Talked to my oldest brother 7 times this week. He is trying to make up for
25 years of non communication. He promised himself that he would call me every day. Sometimes he calls me twice a day. I have little to say to him.
A few days ago I treated my weary feet to a pedicure. Boy, did I need it. My nails had gotten so long I could almost climb a tree.
Hello. This is Juanita. I’ve been job searching and going to job fairs.. nothing really to talk about except
I am hoping to go to work soon. So until next week whisper a prayer…..
