Inside the House

May 12, 2011

How have you been?  I just wanted to first say "Happy belated Mother's Day".  I had a beautiful Mother's Day.  I went to spend time with my mother and daughter this mother's day and had a beautiful time.  My mother's birthday was on May 7th and Mother's Day was the following day so we planned a suprise birthday/mother's day party for my mother.  She has never had a suprise birthday party and she just turned 74 so a good time was had by all.  On another subject, a serious one, our friend, Dee, has had 2 strokes and is on the ICU unit at University of Maryland Medical Center.  She has been a resident of the Women's Housing Coalition for a long time and has made a lot of friends.  I have been up to visit with her and it was very hard for me to see her like that.  Anyone who knows her knows that she is not one to stay still.  She takes pleasure in cooking for the residents when they can't go home to spend holidays with their families.  She finally got reacquainted with her daughter, and moved in with her and was able to cook a mother's day meal for them for the first time in years when tragedy struck.  That may have been the last meal realistically that she will cook for them.  I'd like to believe that God can work miracles, but I'm a realist too, she is very sick and it breaks my heart that she finally got where she wanted to be and then this devistating blow was struck.  My prayers are with her family.  May God keep His loving arms wrapped around them.  May God bless you and your families as well!!!
